This frame keeps its saves separately from the game's own site, and some browsers block saving inside an embedded frame. For a long run, open it in its own tab.

Downlink wants a keyboard and a mouse or trackpad, and a screen big enough for the map, the feed and a hand of cards.

Downlink

Run a county's emergency response from a satellite: play crew and action cards while fire, flood and quakes hit town after town, up to The Big One.

About

You watch every incident from orbit, on a 3D satellite feed you can drop from two kilometres down to the rooftops. Nothing is dispatched for free: crew cards send a fire engine, an ambulance, police, a rescue team, a boat or a helicopter from its station and keep it out for the rest of the shift, while action cards drop water from a bomber, cut a firebreak, sandbag a street or order an evacuation. Command refills and cards arrive as the clock runs, so a shift is a hand you play while the fire runs downhill toward the North End. Each incident is a town built fresh for your run, with its own river, street grid and buildings. Between them, a branching map of supply drops, training grounds, review boards, town halls and field reports shapes the deck, and public trust is what you lose people out of. The ninth day is always the same: an earthquake under Vellmar, and then the dam.

How it plays
  1. 01

Pick a site on the operations map. Incidents are shifts in a new town; the other sites add, upgrade or retire cards, win back trust, or ask you to make a call.

  2. 02

In a shift, press 1 to 8 or click a card, then click the map to play it. Crew cards send a crew from its station; it stays out for the shift, and clicking it and then the map re-tasks it.

  3. 03

Command refills over time and a new card arrives every few seconds. Space pauses; [ and ] change the speed. Drag to pan, scroll to zoom, shift-drag to rotate.

  4. 04

Everyone lost or left waiting costs public trust. Run out and the county shuts the operations centre down; reach the ninth day and you face The Big One.
